Tell about yourself - your personality, lifestyle, etc.
I'm always learning, by studying websites, reading books, or taking classes. I attend PCC and Art Center, but haven't led an artsy life up until now. Good friends are in the arts and education Mother was a teacher, father was an actuary. Sister a bartender, brother an operating engineer.

I have a dog and cat, and live in my own home in La Canada. Remodeled it a few years ago, and am still in the process of organizing it. I'm a letterpress printer and jewelry maker as well as tutor to elementary students... and an actor/model.

I listen to KPCC. A bleeding-heart liberal with a conservative lifestyle. I have one son, 31 years old, who designs toys for Mattel. I was widowed 30 years ago, never remarried. Kinda busy. Traded in teaching for new life a couple of years ago.

What kind of person are you interested in meeting?
Someone calm but with enthusiasm for life. An optimistic realist! A man who is educated and may be retired, but who continues to be involved in some kind of passion and learning, including exercise of some kind. Someone who understands hands-on crafts; tools and the like, who could share my enjoyment of making things.

What sort of relationship would you like at this point in your life.
A friend and boyfriend for starters. Eventually? Who knows? I have been single for thirty plus years. Let's figure it out together.

Do you have kids / grandkids? Tell about them.
One son, 31, dating a young lady who's training to be an osteopath. Ty designs toys and games for Mattel, and went to Otis College of Art and Design for his BA in Toy Design

What have you accomplished so far in your life that you are most proud of?
Still solvent after all these years.

Where have you lived and traveled so far? Where would you like to go?
I'd like to live in Mexico for a while, somewhere that no one would speak English to me, long enough for me to become fluent.

Name some of your all-time favorite music / movies / TV / books.
John Williams scores, old Sinatra, Ella, and most swing-era music as well as our generation's rock and classical. Some of the music of my son's generation, current 31-year-olds, is wonderful, too.

Films... I'm not a big film person, though I do admire some. Will think of those later.

TV? I'm liking Glee so far. Loved Boston Legal when it was on. And when I was on BL! Background only.

Recently went through a series of books of Egyptology/historical fiction, the Amelia Peabody mysteries. Quite well written, and all on CD, too. I like to listen while I drive.

What type of work do you do? Do you enjoy it?
I tutor elementary and junior high students, make jewelry, print letterpress posters and stationery, model and act for the occasional commercial. I've also done a little website editing and copywriting. Enjoy all of these, as they are done at my own schedule as opposed to my previous life, which was set to bells.

What do you enjoy doing for fun?
On my own, I like cruising the web to get inspirations for letterpress and jewelry, or taking classes at PCC/Art Center. With others, I like camping, cooking, even washing dishes if it's a group activity. My friends and I like to walk together and hash out the problems and joys of life. Brainstorming is a real pleasure and solves lots of challenges.

Love being with family and friends to eat and play.

What do you hate doing?
Any work by myself. I get distracted! I used to do my own taxes with more grim determination and near pleasure of accomplishment (look, Dad!), but now.... grrrr. Determining capital gains when you sell stocks? And they have split? What is the point???? To make people crazy, that's what. Sigh.

Tell about where you grew up or where you are from.
Born in Hollywood! Lived in Pacific Palisades and La Canada, then went to UOP in Stockton and San Diego State for my MA. Lived in Stockton after I was married, then Merced, Fremont, and finally La Canada. Very glad to be back in LA, really. Whole family with the exception of three siblings is here.

Do you have pets? Tell about them.
Dog and Cat, both pound graduates.

What would you say is your best virtue?
I'm doing my best every day.

What was the most daring / wild thing you have ever done?
In high school I stayed in a train tunnel while the train was going through. Sat in one of the safety niches with my boyfriend. Idiots.

What terrifies you?
Losing my family.

If you were on a deserted island, and you could choose 3 items to take, what would they be?
A Kindle, a solar battery charger, and something comfortable to sleep on. This presumes that I could download as many things on the Kindle as I like!

Your ultimate intimate dinner party would include which 3 guests (dead or alive)?
People in my family who have passed away and I miss: my husband, so I could laugh with him and talk about how our son has turned out; my dad, my father-in-law, and my grandmothers most of all. More than three? It's my party.

How is your physical shape? What do you do to keep in shape?
Could be better. My schedule doesn't lend itself to the yoga classes I like, but I admit I need to work in walking more.

While looking at a person’s profile, following the picture, what are the first things you look for?
I look to see how complete the writing is. The more thought and quality that has been put in, the more trust I'll have. There are those who write a lot and say very little, so it isn't about quantity! I admit that I also look for care in spelling and punctuation. C'mon, people. I love slang, but even that has proper spelling. All my life I've been around people who care about education; it's part of my comfort factor. Being capable of a little twist of wit??? Excellent!

What else should we know about you?
When I go to the effort of writing information about myself, I appreciate that gentlemen read and acknowledge what it says. For example, the part about wanting someone from nearby, and requiring a photo. I know there's an impulse to jump in without the photo if you don't have one you like; however, it's worth the wait!

And... if you're not from Los Angeles area, we're not going to be seeing one another in person. That's the only kind of relationship I'm searching for.
